Seniors Helping Seniors

Are you a caregiver of someone who has Alzheimer's or some other form of dementia?  Could you use a break?  Could your loved one benefit from some social time with a group of peers?  If so, this program is for you!

The Macedon Public Library has partnered with Lifespan and the Alzheimer's Association to receive the training and skills to offer a respite group that benefits both caregivers and the cared for loved one.  In addition, all involved staff and volunteers will be background checked to ensure peace of mind for caregivers.

Attendees will be encouraged to socialize, do simple exercises, play games, sing, participate in creative projects and to enjoy their own bagged lunch together.  The goal is to give attendees a fun afternoon together in a safe space while caregivers have some time to themselves.

To register or find out more information about the program, please call 315-986-5932 and ask for Stacey.

2-2:15 pm
2:15-2:30 pm
2:30-2:45 pm
2:45 pm-3 pm

Pie Palooza is a fundraiser that works like a cake-walk.  Live music will be played by Heart Strings.  When the musicians, Kathie and Denny Brunner, randomly stop playing, they will draw a number.  There will be numbers on the floor.  If you are standing on the number that is drawn when the music stops, you will be able to pick a pie from the pie table as a prize!

There will four, fifteen minute sessions of pie palooza.  It will cost $5 for each 15 minutes of play.  A limit of one pie may be won per session of play. The money raised will support literacy programs implemented by Literacy Volunteers of Wayne County.  It will also support the Friends of the Macedon Public Library who provide the funding for our programming for all ages throughout the year.

This is a great way to win one, or if you are lucky, more delicious pies for your Thanksgiving feast and to support the library and literacy (one pie may be won during each 15 minute session).

Sessions are limited to just 50 people during each quarter hour of play.  There will be 10 pie winners each quarter hour!

Special thanks go to JD Chapman AgencyWaste Stream ManagementPal-Mac Rotary and Friends of the Macedon Public Library for making this fundraising event possible.

Purchase your ticket(s) at the circulation desk today and you may be the lucky winner of a pie to add to your Thanksgiving feast!
